FacileThings: Changelog (July 2015)

Here is a list of minor changes and bug fixes that have been made on FacileThings in recent weeks:

Fixed sidebar

In our last update, project management with Personal Kanban, we introduced in the Projects section a line to get a separated scroll in the left menu and the page content. Since it provides greater control over what you want to view, we also extended the use of this fixed sidebar to the other sections:

Fixed sidebar is automatically disabled when the window width is too small, so as to adapt better when you are working with multiple, narrow windows or in a tablet.

Focus on Goals and Areas of Responsibility

As a result of fixing the side menu, the dropdown that lets you filter all actions and projects by Goal or Area of Responsibility did not look properly, so it has been moved to the content area:

In addition, a bug that did not allow to properly use this filter in tablets has been fixed.

Automatic pagination when the length of a list changes

If you are on a list with many items spread over several pages and delete or move an item to another list, you will see that the current page is automatically updated: It appears a new element at the end of the page and the number of pages is calculated again.

This did not happen before, and if you were reviewing a list from beginning to end, you had to manually refresh the list after any changes, to make sure you didn’t lose sight of any task.

This auto-paging mechanism has been also incorporated in the process of the Weekly Review, which is where it is probably most needed.

Delegating tasks

Some of you complained that your collaborators sometimes did not check their tasks off so they always remained in the Waiting For list. Now, you can finish a task delegated to an external user if he or she does not. The program will ask for confirmation to avoid mistakes.

Also, when a delegated task is reassigned to a different person, the name of the first collaborator is removed from the text of the task.

Other changes

  • We fixed a bug in the Calendar views—daily, weekly and monthly—. Only the first 20 events were shown within the displayed period.
  • We improved conversion (UTF-8 encoding) of emails coming into your inbox.
  • When the top menu was contracted to fit smaller screens, the submenu options were not shown properly. Now this is fixed.
  • We have improved the activation of repetitive tasks set to be activated the same day they are supposed to get done. Now they are activated at 0:00 instead of the time at which they were scheduled, so they appear to the eye in sufficient time (both on the Calendar and the Daily Report).
