Stress-free productivity does exist

A few months ago, a Hyperink Press editor got in touch with me and offered me to do a beautiful ebook based on the best content from this blog. Apparently, they had thoroughly researched the blog, and both the subjects and the quality of our articles fit pretty well in their company’s mission: to bring readers blogs with good content—often difficult to find—so they can learn about a topic in a fun and fast way.

Productivity has changed my life. Not the type of productivity understood as a series of tricks that let you do some things with less effort and buy some more time, but productivity understood as a philosophy of life. Let me explain…

You have probably heard of the famous experiment that was conducted a few decades ago in a laboratory at Stanford University: a few children were left alone in a room and were told that they could have a candy at that time or wait until the experimenter came back, in which case they could have two candies. The experiment did not end there, since the social and cognitive skills of these children were tested some years later. The result was that, at least academically, the ones who had delayed instant gratification obtained better scores and were more popular than those who had not.

Getting organized is relatively simple. Many believe that it is only a matter of choosing a good task management application and start to put things there. But then you have to maintain that organization. Most of these people jump from one application to another every time they start to lose control, believing they will find a tool that will provide them the balance their life needs. An Internet user just needs 50 milliseconds to form a first impression of the page he is visiting. It is even more interesting to know that, after a much longer lasting exposure to that page, the final impression hardly changes compared to that first and brief impression.
